Ignaz Sigl
Ignaz "Nazi" Sigl (born February 11, 1902 , † 1986 ) was an Austrian football player . As captain, the right winger led the Admira to three championships from 1927 to 1932 and was a regular in the national team at the same time .
Career
Ignaz Sigl, known as Nazi for short , came to Admira in Jedlesee at the age of sixteen in 1918, and soon became the association's identification figure and nicknamed "Burgermaster". Physically very strong, with great assertiveness and a strong shot was the right wing attack leader of the Jedleseer, mostly played together with Hans Klima on the wing. He won the championship three times with Admira, in 1927, 1928 and 1932 and twice the ÖFB Cup . Both finals were successfully contested against the WAC , with Nazi Sigl contributing a goal to make it 2-1 at the first meeting, and at 6-1 there were two hits and two assists. In the league he was after Toni Schall in the first two years of the championship with twelve and 13 goals respectively, the best Admira shooter.
After his successful debut in the national team in a 2-1 win against Finland in Helsinki in July 1925 , Nazi Sigl became a regular in the team under Hugo Meisl , had the then high number of 24 internationals by 1931 and was finally succeeded in his position by Karl Zischek internationally . A highlight in the team was the 5: 1 in the prestige duel with Hungary in October 1928, where he scored two of his five international goals. At the end of his career, the right winger joined the Floridsdorf second division club SC Austro-Fiat Vienna for a season in 1935 before he tried his hand at coaching the small club Shell.
