Lake Constance Foundation

The Bodensee Foundation is an international foundation for nature and culture based in Radolfzell . The aim is to sensitize the economy in the Lake Constance region for environmentally friendly development.

In 1994 the foundation emerged from the “Lake Constance environmental protection project” of the German Environmental Aid . Other donors are the German, Austrian and Swiss environmental organizations Pro Natura Switzerland, World Wide Fund for Nature Switzerland, the Austrian Nature Conservation Association , the Nature Conservation Association Germany and the Association for the Environment and Nature Conservation Germany . The Lake Constance Foundation also coordinates the Lake Constance Environment Council, an association of almost 20 regional environmental and nature conservation groups around Lake Constance.

The foundation works on a project-oriented basis in various fields of activity. Current work focuses on business & biodiversity , municipal sustainability management , renaturation of alluvial forests , nature conservation-oriented agriculture and sustainable biomass use . The Bodensee Foundation works closely with stakeholders from business, specialist administrations, municipalities, politics and other stakeholders. The Lake Constance Foundation represents the international Lake Constance region as a founding member of the worldwide Living Lakes network .
