Bohemia Interactive Studio ( BIS ) is a game developer and manufacturer of professional military simulations based in Mníšek pod Brdy (southwest of Prague ), Czech Republic . BIS employs more than 30 developers in the Prague studio. The company is run by joint owner Marek Španěl. BIS is a member of IDEA Games .

In the Australian studio Bohemia Interactive Simulations, the professional military simulations of the Virtual Battlespace series are developed:

  • VBS1 (Windows) - November 2006 - 2002, 2004 (worldwide)
  • VBS2 (Windows) - April 2007 (worldwide)
  • VBS3 (Windows) - November 2013 (version 3.03) - June 2014 (version 3.4 worldwide)

Game engines

From 1997 to 2001, BIS developed the Real Virtuality Engine especially for their tactical shooters , which has grown to version 4 to this day.

  • Operation Flashpoint (XBOX), Armed Assault, VBS2 (Real Virtuality 2, 2005)

  • ArmA 3 (Real Virtuality 4, 2012)

In the course of the development of DayZ, another engine called Enfusion was created . In the long term, it should serve as the basis for the studio's new titles.
