Iron Front - Liberation 1944 is a standalone tactical shooter based on the game engine of the computer game ArmA 2 . It was released on May 25, 2012 in Germany.
Game description
In contrast to ArmA 2, the game does not deal with a modern battlefield, but rather with a final episode of World War II. The campaign traces battles between the Wehrmacht and the Red Army in the summer of 1944 as they took place in Poland ( Lviv-Sandomierz operation ). The player can choose between 4 campaigns (2 per side) or 2 missions. Similar to ArmA 2, the game can be modified widely. The editor supplied is structured in the same way as in the template game and offers the player the option of building further missions on Polish / Ukrainian terrain.
background
At the time of the computer game Operation Flashpoint , which was developed by Bohemia Interactive in Prague, many mod groups were formed due to the fact that they could be easily modified, bringing different armies or military themes into play. Among them was the Mod Liberation 1941–1945 from Russia, which recreated vehicles and figures from the era of the German-Soviet War . Mod variants to the successors were delayed because, as in other mods, the euphoria and members disappeared. Eventually it was decided to develop the game into a commercial in-house product. Since many countries have a problem with NS symbols in computer games, SS units or symbols had to be replaced or removed from the OFP mod. In the meantime, Waffen-SS units have been included since patch 1.03. Anti-constitutional badges were made unrecognizable and can be found under the menu item Stormtroopers in the editor.
