^ Football League First Division 1911/12
The Football League Second Division 1911/12 was the 20th season of the Football League Second Division as the second highest English football league . It began on September 2, 1911 and ended on April 29, 1912.
Second division champion was Derby County and also the second-placed Chelsea rose to the Football League First Division . For the two promoted players in the following second division season 1912/13, the two first division clubs Preston North End and FC Bury, ranked in the table below, took the places. Gainsborough Trinity had to relegate from the Second Division . In addition, Glossop FC and Leeds City also worried about staying in the class, but then received enough votes in the reelection process of the league association to be allowed to participate again in the Second Division in the following 1912/13 season. Gainsborough Trinity's place was taken by newly promoted Lincoln City in the following season .
