Boil was a Danish progressive and alternative rock band from Aarhus that was formed in 2004 and split up in 2013.

history

After the band was founded in 2004, their debut album Vessel was released in January 2007 . The album received a nomination for Debut Album of the Year at the Danish Metal Awards 2007. After its release, the band went on tour and performed at the Sweden Rock Festival and the SPOT Festival in Denmark in 2008 . A second album followed in April 2010 under the name A New Decay . The sound carrier was recorded and mixed by the band themselves and then mastered by Tue Madsen . The album received, among other things, a review in Metal Hammer . A music video was also shot for the single Sleepwalker . In 2011 the group wrote their third album, which was recorded and recorded at Sleepwalker Studios in January and February 2012 and then mixed and mastered by the Swede Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios . After the group had signed a contract with Vici Solum Productions , the recording was released worldwide in February 2013 under the name aXiom . A music video for the single Vindication had previously been released in October 2012. An appearance at ProgPower Europe was planned for October 2013, but this could not take place because the group announced its dissolution in September. Oddland stepped in as a replacement .

style

According to Tobias Gerber from Metal Hammer , the band falls between Tool and Alice in chains . In addition, a small Volbeat influence can be heard. The songs were not thematically related, but most of the songs are about a "sterile, uniform society, for which a smooth look is more important than a little life". In his previous review of the album A New Decay, Gerber also drew a comparison to Tool, but was "more angular, catchy and less cerebral". Above all, the vocals are reminiscent of Maynard James Keenan . The music is suitable for tool fans, but without the music becoming too progressive. Marcel Rudoletzky from Metal Hammer described it similarly in his review of aXiom by describing the music as progressive alternative rock. In the song Sever the Tie he also heard slight parallels to Tool.
