Bolbec Castle or Bolebec Castle is an Outbound castle in the village of Whitchurch in the English county of Buckinghamshire .

history

Hugh II. De Bolbec, Lord of Whitchurch , had the moth erected illegally in 1147, during the anarchy . The building was built by Pope Eugene III. criticized.

It is said to have had a brick donjon and a moth on a natural hill that was already easy to defend. The triangular outer bailey is now separated from the Motte by Castle Lane .

Oliver Cromwell was responsible for the destruction of the castle in the English Civil War (1642-1651).

The earthworks that have survived to this day are protected as a Scheduled Monument .
