Bolebroke Castle

Bolebroke Castle is a hunting lodge north of the village Hartfield in English management unit East Sussex . English Heritage has the castle from the 15th century as a historical building II *. Grade listed.

Bolebroke Castle was built around 1480 and is believed to be the first brick building in Sussex. King Henry VIII is believed to have stayed here when hunting wild boar or deer in the nearby Ashdown Forest . The castle is about 5 miles from Hever Castle . It was from here that King Heinrich Anne Boleyn courted .

The house was used as the backdrop for the film The Queen's Sister in 2008 .

The narrow-gauge Bolebroke Castle Miniature Railway operated on the property until 2012 .
