HamburgAmbassador program

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The HamburgAmbassador program is a marketing program of the city of Hamburg with the aim of increasing awareness of the city and the metropolitan region of Hamburg worldwide. For this purpose, personalities from business, culture and society living abroad who have a special connection to Hamburg, the so-called "HamburgAmbassadors", volunteer in their respective new adopted home.

The program was launched in 2005 by the Hamburg Senate together with the Hamburg Economic Development Corporation , Hamburg Marketing GmbH and the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce . As of June 2019, 36 “HamburgAmbassadors” were active in 24 countries. Opportunities for involvement include the distribution of information material, lectures about Hamburg, the organization of events with a Hamburg connection and participation in delegation trips to and from Hamburg and at trade fairs, conferences, congresses and receptions. A selection committee formed by the participating organizations decides on proposals for admission to the honorary office; applications are not possible. The appointment is made by means of a certificate from the First Mayor, initially for three years and can be extended by this period as often as desired.

A so-called "HamburgAmbassador Office" coordinates the program. It organizes an annual multi-day meeting of volunteers on selected key topics in May each year, before or after the port birthday .
