Bolshevik spa chapel black and red

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bolshevik Kurkapelle black-red is a music group from Berlin . In a different line-up, but always with a clear dominance of the brass , she mainly has workers' songs in her repertoire that she reinterprets. The band split in 2010 and has since performed under the same name in two different formations. In March 2012 a part founded a new orchestra called "So-called Anarchist Music Industry".

Band history

The group was founded in 1986 in East Berlin as the successor to the Lied theater group Karls Enkel with the aim of making workers' songs audible again and freeing them from both the mere folklore and the political propaganda of the German Democratic Republic (GDR). The band was influenced by the ideas of Erwin Piscator .

In the summer of 2010 the chapel was divided into two sections. One continues to operate as the Bolshevik Kurkapelle black-red, the other section has been performing since 2012 under the name “So-called anarchist music industry”.

repertoire

The focus is on interpretations of workers' songs, for example by Hanns Eisler or Hermann Scherchen . The Kurkapelle plays these with the use of brass , puts them in driving rhythms and makes them lively and danceable. Even though the songs are combined with satirical interludes, especially at concerts, they are never ridiculed. In addition to workers' songs, the works of the band Ton Steine Schherd and compositions by Rio Reiser play a prominent role. In addition, the group also plays a number of their own compositions, works by various artists of pop music as well as compositions of classical modernism. Basically the "programmatic-political claim" is in the foreground, the band does not want to be limited to a pure fun program.

The focus of the Bolshevik Kurkapelle is more on live performances. In addition to participating in a few samplers, she produced several recordings for the Buschfunk label .
