Bolvinnus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bolvinnus is the name of a Gaulish god who, according to the Interpretatio Romana, is equated with Mars .

The deity is attested by two dedicatory inscriptions from Bouhy ( Département Nièvre ) in the former settlement area of the Senones in the Roman province of Lugdunensis (CIL XIII 2899 and 2900). The goddess Duna named in the first inscription is assumed to be the actual spring deity of the local thermal spring.
