Bombala Council was a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area was 3,944 km² and had about 2,400 inhabitants. In 2016, the Snowy Monaro Regional Council made a difference .
Bombala was located in the extreme southeast of the state on the border with Victoria about 200 km south of the Australian capital Canberra and 540 km northeast of Melbourne . The area comprised 67 hamlets and localities, including Ando, Bibbenluke, Bombala, Cathcart, Cooma, Corrowong, Craigie, Delegate, Maharatta and Rockton. The administrative seat of the council was in the city of Bombala in the east of the LGA, where today about 1,200 inhabitants live.
Bombala is also called "Platypus Country", home to the platypus .

The Bombala Council has nine members who are elected by LGA residents. Bombala is not divided into districts. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
