Bonhoeffer House Szczecin

The Bonhoeffer House is the parish hall of the Lutheran parish of Szczecin , which has been used as a study and meeting center since autumn 2003 and is sponsored by the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland . The connection to Dietrich Bonhoeffer is through his engagement in Zdroje (German Finkenwalde) near Stettin, where he founded the (illegal) seminary of the Confessing Church . For this reason, the Lutheran congregation in Stettin named their parish hall after the theologian in 1995.

History of the house

The villa was built at the beginning of the 20th century for Ernst Kuhlo , the director of the Szczecin Electricity Works , and was later the home of the architect and town planner Piotr Zaremba . The building is located in the former embassy district of Szczecin and housed the embassy of Czechoslovakia and later the Czech Republic from 1949 to 1992 .
