Igor Kamenz

Igor Kamenz (* 1968 in Khabarovsk ) is a Russian-German pianist .

Life

Kamenz was born in the Russian Far East . He received musical training at an early age and appeared as a child in the Soviet Union as a conductor, pianist and composer. As a teenager he emigrated with his parents from the Soviet Union to West Germany. He studied with Vitaly Margulis and Sergiu Celibidache .

Awards

Kamenz has won numerous international piano competitions (including 17 first prizes, 15 second prizes, 15 special prizes). These include the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition (1988: 2nd prize together with Benjamin Pasternack, 1st prize not awarded, 1991: 2nd prize together with Olivier Cazal, 1st prize not awarded), the Pilar Bayona Piano Competition (1987 : 1st Prize), the Concours National de Piano Claude Kahn (1985: 1st Prize), the World Piano Competition Cincinnati (1988: 1st Prize together with Eric Himy) and the Bremen Piano Competition (1993. 2nd Prize together with Cédric Tiberghien , 1st prize not awarded).
