Little has been published about his life and family. He was crowned in 1932. After his death, the throne was vacant until the nephew of Bonifacio ascended it in 1992.
His successor, Julio Pinedo, was crowned in 1992 and officially recognized on December 3, 2007 when he was sworn in by the Prefect of La Paz .
Bonifacio Pinedo and his wife Cecilia are buried near Mururata .
Origin and ancestors
The history of the Pinedo family is closely related to the Spanish slave trade in South America . After the indigenous population of South America from the Spaniards to slave labor a. a. was used in the mines in the Andes and many of them died, Africans were brought into the country as slaves. The last slave ship was sent to South America around 1820, and Bolivia formally abolished slavery in 1826 . On one of the last slave ships themselves to Prince Uchicho from the royal house of Senegal have been (according to other sources in the Congo ). In 1832 he was crowned their first head by the former slaves (see also: Afro-Bolivian royal family ).
The family's name, Pinedo, is believed to have been adopted by the previous slave owner, as was the custom in the past.
The Afrobolivian population group has only been one of the 36 recognized minorities in the country since the constitutional amendment in 2009.
