Boniface Pfaffenzeller

Bonifatius Pfaffenzeller (* 1677 in Hausen, Upper Bavaria , † December 30, 1727 in Thierhaupten ) was a German clergyman and ascetic writer .

Life

Bonifatius Pfaffenzeller entered the Benedictine order in Thierhaupten in 1697 . He was a pious man who conscientiously fulfilled the duties of his class. He died in Thierhaupten at the end of 1727 at the age of 50.

The writings left by Pfaffenzeller denote the ascetic direction of his spirit, including:

  • Apes Benedictinae, seu, De sanctis Benedictinis epigrammata sacra , Augsburg 1715
  • Apes thaumaturgae, seu, De miris gestis sanctorum epigrammata sacra , Augsburg 1715 and 1716
  • Apes miscellaneae, seu, Selecta varii argumenti epigrammata , Augsburg 1715 and 1717
  • Apes circumspectae religiosae, seu selecta epigrammata , Augsburg 1717
  • Holy weeks or Jesus Christ as a king, mediator and judge, on the seven days of the week , Augsburg 1722

In his Analecta ascetica (Augsburg 1722) he gave an instruction on a godly life. He bitterly rebuked the depravity of the people in the simultaneously published work Mundus agonizans, or various fortunes and misfortunes, customs and performance of the world now tending to end .
