Borda is an impact crater to the east of the lunar front , southwest of Mare Fecunditatis , northwest of Reichenbach crater and southeast of Santbech . The crater is heavily eroded with an irregular edge. The interior has a central mountain .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the French mathematician Jean-Charles de Borda .
