The Boretree Tarn is a lake in the Lake District , Cumbria , England .
The lake is located between the southern end of Windermere in the east and the Rusland Pool in the west, near Town End .
The lake in its current form was created by the construction of a dam in the 18th century, which merged three lakes.
The lake has no recognizable tributary. The Hagg Gill forms its drain on its east side.
