George Arthur (born June 30, 1968 in Chira , Brong Ahafo , † June 14, 2015 in Sunyani) was a Ghanaian national soccer player .
Career
society
Arthur played in his club career for BA United, Asante Kotoko (1986 and 1987 Ghanaian champions), in the German amateur Oberliga Südwest with Wormatia Worms and Al Ahly Cairo . In the spring of 2001 he ended his active career with Asante Kotoko at the age of 33.
National team
Arthur belonged to the extended circle of Black Stars from 1987 to 1994 and completed three international matches during this time.
Coaching career
After retiring, Arthur worked for one year as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Brong Ahafo United in 2002 . Afterwards Arthur coached the Ghanaian women's national soccer team for a short time before he was replaced by Isaac Paha in 2004.
death
Arthur broke out on June 14, 2015 during a recreational soccer game in Sunyani with a cardiovascular arrest together and died on the way to the Sunyani Regional Hospital . He was buried in his last residence in Sunyani on September 5, 2015.
Personal
His son George Arthur Jr. (born October 16, 1987), is also active as a football player. Arthur Jr. played for his father's club Asante Kotoko , Bechem United and Kaaseman FC , among others .
