The Borgo Press was an American small publisher specializing in science fiction , fantasy and related secondary literature .

history

The publishing house was founded in 1975 by the bibliographer and editor Michael Burgess , best known under his pseudonym Robert Reginald . Initially, distribution was taken over by Newcastle Publishers , for which Burgess worked as a publisher until 1980. Burgess' wife Mary Burgess was a co-publisher from 1976.

In 1991, Borgo Press acquired Brownstone Books , The Starmont Contemporary Writers Series , Sidewinder Press and St. Willibrord's Press and started Burgess & Wickizer as an imprint . In 1999 the publisher was liquidated. By this time, the publisher had published over 300 titles. In 2003, Borgo Press was revived as the imprint of Wildside Press , with Burgess serving as editor of the series that appeared there.
