Boris Petrovich Shekassyuk

Boris Petrovich Schekassjuk ( Russian Борис Петрович Шекасюк ; born February 9, 1948 in Moscow ; † January 11, 2010 ibid) was a Russian German studies specialist , translator and professor at the Moscow State Pedagogical University .

Life

Shekassyuk graduated in 1971 from Moscow State Pedagogical VI Lenin Institute in the field of "German and English". He stayed at the institute and rose from laboratory assistant to head of the department. In 1984 he did his doctorate with Valentin Dmitrijewitsch Djowkin on the subject of the word order in simple German sentence .

The focus of his works were the problems of German colloquial language, German grammar, theory and practical application of translation, nomination theory, and comparative linguistics. Shekassyuk translated both aesthetic and scientific-technical literature. The high quality of his translations of classical and modern works of poetry has been recognized internationally, especially his translation of Aeschylus ' Orésteia in Europe. The play was staged in several cities in the CIS and Europe under the direction of Peter Stein with a cast of Russian actors.
