Boris Rung (* 16th January 1928 in Helsinki ; † 11. June 2003 in Porvoo ) was a senior Finnish Motorsport - functionary .

At the end of 1974 he was one of the founding fathers of the European Rallycross Association (ERA) and its third president from 1980 to 1985, after Tony Tomassi from Britain and Harrie Kiviet from the Netherlands . As a member of his automobile club Helsingin UA , Rung played a key role in establishing the auto sport rallycross in Finland in the mid- 1970s . He represented his national Finnish association AKK for several years as an active member of the Off-Road Commission of the then FISA and later FIA , whereby he was active as an observer in a large number of international car races for world automobile sport sovereignty .

As a rally official at the 1000 Lakes Rally in 1981, Rung narrowly escaped a tragic fate in which his friend and AKK President Raul Falin was killed, and he got away with a shock. The Austrian Franz Wittmann had 4 in an accident in the target area of the rally special stage (Ehikki) near Laajavuori with his Audi quattro beside the car, the timekeeper, the rally officials Falin, Rung and the FIA observer Costas Glossotis from Greece recorded and only Raul Falin was fatally injured “relatively lightly”.

Boris Rung died in 2003 at the age of 75, leaving behind his wife a daughter and a son.
