Boris Jurjewitsch Titow ( Russian Борис Юрьевич Титов ; born December 24, 1960 in Moscow ) is a Russian entrepreneur and politician .

Career

Titov graduated in 1983 from the Faculty of Economics of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in the field of international relations . In the same year he started working for Soyuznefteexport, a foreign trade organization, and was responsible for the supply of petrochemical products to the Far East and Latin America . In 1989 he moved to the Soviet - Dutch Urals group, where he worked as a department head. In 1991, Titow became managing director of Solvalub, later SVL Group, which is also active in the petrochemicals sector. In 1996 Titov became president of the company. In May 2004, Titov became chairman of the Russian association “Business Russia”, in which position he criticized Russia's tax policy in particular . In 2008, Titov joined the traditional Russian company Abrau-Durso as the new main shareholder , which had made a name for itself as a sparkling wine manufacturer. Titow supported the ailing company with an investment of US $ 12 million .

In 2006 Titov's fortune was estimated at US $ 1.03 billion.

Political career

Boris Titov has been active in Russian politics since the early 2000s. On February 29, 2016, he became chairman of the Right Cause party , which represented business-liberal interests. The party was renamed the Growth Party in March 2016 , and Titov became chairman of the new party, which failed in the 2016 Duma election with 1.25% of the 5% hurdle. Parallel to his work as the commissioner for corporate rights of the Russian President Putin , Titov ran for the growth party in the presidential election 2018 . With regard to the incumbent President Putin, Titov noted that no one had "the slightest doubt who will win the election". Nevertheless, he wanted to give liberal economic interests a voice in the election and, above all, to defend small and medium-sized companies.

In view of Titov's role as Putin's advisor, it has been speculated that his candidacy was voted in advance with the Kremlin to prevent a low turnout.
