Boris von Vietinghoff-Scheel
Boris Alexandrowitsch Baron von Vietinghoff-Scheel ( Russian Борис Александрович Фитингоф-Шель ; * 1829 in Morschansk , † 1901 in St. Petersburg ) was a Russian composer .
Life
Boris came from the Baltic family of the Barons von Vietinghoff-Scheel . He initially pursued an officer career in the Imperial Russian Army . After leaving , he began to compose pieces as a dilettante and autodidact under the influence of Henselt , Focht , Dargomyschski , Marx and Fétis . He is said to have been very talented and his work is assigned to Russian Romanticism .
