Borko Stefanović

Borko Stefanović (* 1974 in Novi Sad ) is a Serbian politician and diplomat.

Life

Stefanović completed a law degree in Novi Sad, which he graduated in 1999. In his youth he was also the bass guitarist in a punk rock band. After graduating, he first worked on a court.

Political career

In 2001 Stefanović was assigned to the State Department of his country and was immediately transferred to the embassy in Washington, DC . In 2007 he became office manager of the then new foreign minister Vuk Jeremić , and later political director (head of department) in the foreign ministry. He was his government's chief negotiator in the customs dispute between Serbia and Kosovo in 2011/2012 .

Stefanović was a member of the Democratic Party of Serbia between 2003 and 2015 , for which he also sat in parliament, temporarily as group leader. At the end of 2015 he founded the movement "The Left of Serbia" and took part in the Serbian elections in April 2016 (unsuccessfully).
