Born into the '90s is the debut album by R. Kelly and the background band Public Announcement. It was released in January 1992 and included national hits like She's Got That Vibe , Dedicated , Honey Love and Slow Dance (Hey Mr. DJ) .

In 1991 R. Kelly signed a contract with Jive Records. The first release "Born into the '90s" (recorded with backing band Public Announcement) in 1992 received rave reviews. The album was produced by R. Kelly himself and the Afro-American producer and founder of Blackground Records Barry Hankerson. With 11 tracks and almost 45 minutes in length, it is a rather short studio album.
successes
Born into the '90s first earned him platinum in the States in 1993 and was number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for several weeks. On his first tour of England, he performed three times in London at the sold-out Hammersmith Apollo. 18 months later he already played five more sold-out shows in the same hall, such as a performance in Wolverhampton. The album also received numerous nominations for the American Music Award in the “Favorite Soul / R & B Single” category. Despite these remarkable successes, R. Kelly left the band shortly after its release to begin a successful solo career.
