Borrel (desert)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Borrel is a desert near Wiegersen in the Sauensiek municipality in the Stade district in Lower Saxony . Borrel was between Wiegersen and Revenahe .

Borrel was first mentioned in the Vörder Register around 1500 , together with Revenahe and Kammerbusch . Borrel was the eponymous part of the political community consisting of Borrel, Kammerbusch and Revenahe. In 1821 the Borrel district had the most inhabitants. In the second half of the 18th century Borrel was bought by the Wiegersen manor . Forestry planting was then started on the surrounding heather and arable land. After a change of ownership of the Wiegersen manor in 1887, Borrel was gradually abandoned by the residents until 1900. The abandoned buildings were demolished. On June 26, 1909, the Borrel district was officially renamed Revenahe by cabinet order .

Today the street name "Borrel" in Wiegersen and the former village well reminds of Borrel.
