Bosque ( Portuguese grove ) is a funeral doom project founded in 2005 .

history

The Funeral Doom project Bosque was founded in 2005 in Vila do Conde by the only member "DM". The project has since released various demo tapes , split albums and studio albums. Bosque cooperated with independent labels such as Pale Horse Recordings , Bubonic Doom , Dunkelheit Produktionen and Total Holocaust Records . After the early releases received little attention, the album Beyond , released in 2016 via Dunkelheit Produktionen, received a broad international and primarily positive reception.

style

The webzine Doom-Metal.com describes the music played by Bosque as “hard, creepy and bleak funeral doom that is close to Ambient and Drone Metal most of the time .” The music is filled with feedback from a mostly loud, distorted one and at the same time reduced guitar sound. The singing, however, would consist of distant wailing, screaming and monotonous chants. In his review of the album Beyond , written for the webzine Metal Injection , Cody Davis describes the musical concept of Bosque as a different attitude towards funeral doom. "DM" replaced the regular rough or guttural vocals with clear vocals mixed in the background of the music, which made it possible to "focus on the desperate guitars".

“Individual riffs and fragments of them take up the space that come from the Funeral Doom category. They sound quite scratchy, bring a certain depth over and create thin atmospheres. From a distance you can hear temple-like chants that come from a clean voice. The pace remains slow and looks like a wide carpet over the entire season. "
