Boswell Williams

Boswell Williams (* 1926 ; † July 20, 2014 in Sans Soucis ) was a politician from Saint Lucia and Governor General of Saint Lucia .

biography

Williams was elected to the Parliament of St. Lucia in 1974 and represented the interests of the constituency of Vieux Fort in this until 1979 .

On June 19, 1980, he succeeded Sir Allen Montgomery Lewis as governor-general of St. Lucia and held this position as representative of the British monarch Elizabeth II until his resignation on December 13, 1982. During his tenure, the most serious constitutional crisis of St . Lucia: After the draft budget of Prime Minister Allan Louisy was rejected, resigned initially some ministers before finally Louisy resigned on May 4, 1981. The subsequent governments of Winston Cenac and Michael Pilgrim were also short-lived.

Sir Allen Montgomery Lewis was succeeded as Governor General.
