Allan Louisy

Sir Allan Fitzgerald Laurent Louisy KCMG (born September 5, 1916 in Laborie , Saint Lucia , † March 2, 2011 Laborie , Saint Lucia) was the second Prime Minister of the independent Caribbean state of Saint Lucia.

Career

Louisy served as a judge before representing his district in parliament . In the late 1970s , as leader of the Saint Lucia Labor Party , he supported the anti-independence movement of union leader George Odlum . During the first parliamentary elections in Saint Lucia, he won superiorly and became the first head of government of the new state. On July 2, 1979, he took office, but stayed only briefly. He also resigned on May 4, 1981, after his budget was rejected and key members of his cabinet resigned. He was succeeded by Attorney General Winston Francis Cenac .
