Vaughan Allen Lewis
Sir Vaughan Allen Lewis (born May 17, 1940 ) is a politician from Saint Lucia and was the country's Prime Minister .
Lewis is a former member of the United Workers' Party . With the resignation of John Compton , he became Prime Minister for a short time from April 2, 1996 until the new elections on May 23, 1997. In the new elections his party suffered a severe setback in which it lost all but one seat in Parliament. He then resigned for the leader of the Saint Lucia Labor Party , Kenneth Anthony . Lewis also served as Secretary of the Treasury , Secretary of Development, and Secretary of State .
His father was Sir Allen Montgomery Lewis , St. Lucia's first governor general after sovereignty on February 22, 1979.
On February 22, 2016, he was knighted as Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia .
