Bakau Botanical Garden

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Botanical Garden ( English Bakau Botanical Garden ) in Bakau in the West African state of Gambia is a botanical garden with mostly native plants, also from Southeast Asia, North America and Siberia. It was created in 1924 when the Gambia was still a British colony.

The locked parking area , which can be entered for a small fee, is located on the northern side of the Atlantic Roads. A nature trail with a few seats runs through the area. Numerous trees and bushes have name tags, including teak trees and cycads . Birds of the species butterfly finch ( Uraeginthus bengalus ), lesser elster ( Lonchura cucullata ) and cattle egret ( Bubulcus ibis ) are common here.
