The Jevremovac Botanical Garden in Belgrade is the most important botanical garden in Serbia and part of the Botanical Institute of the University of Belgrade , founded in 1874 by Josif Pančić . Urban development began in 1889.

The Jevremovac Botanical Garden is located in the southeast of the Stari Grad district ( Old Town ) on Takovska ulica . Above all, an extensive arboretum and a greenhouse from the 19th century can be found on five hectares . In the garden are the Botanical Institutes of the Biological Faculty of the University of Belgrade and the Herbarium (international herbarium abbreviation BEOU) founded in 1860 with 150,000 exikata from the flora of the Balkans .

The main entrance to the Botanical Garden is on the corner of Takovska and Dalmatinska streets. Right behind the entrance is the statue of Josef Pančić. In the arboretum with numerous endemic tree species of the Balkan Peninsula, the semi-evergreen tree species of the subtropics are particularly interesting ( Macedonian oak ). There are also tertiary relics of the Hyrkanian flora province such as Parrotia persica . Next to the administration building and the herbarium of the botanical institute is a small alpine plant with some rare endemics ( Iris orjenii and Edraianthus ssp.) From the Balkan Peninsula. A small drinking fountain leads to the greenhouse, which is still preserved in its original equipment of the heating systems and iron construction delivered from Dresden . Behind the glass house is the new Japanese garden with a pavilion and a stream. In addition to show discounts, the inviting walks are popular local recreation areas for Belgrade residents.
