Kassel Botanical Garden
The Botanical Garden Kassel is just outside the park Schonfeld , northwest of the palace Schoenfeld in the district Wehlheiden in Kassel .
history
The garden was set up as a school garden in 1912 by separating a 1.5 hectare area from Schönfeld Park. Between the world wars it was used for growing vegetables and was laid out as a botanical garden in 1948/49 , which was redesigned in 1955 for the Federal Garden Show .
In 1982 the city's financial support ceased and the garden was converted into a public green area with lawns. In 2003 the garden became a botanical garden again, which today houses an avenue , a garden pond, a perennial, rose and medicinal herb garden as well as a cactus house and a school biology center.
