The Botanical Garden ( Albanian  Kopshti Botany ) in Tirana , the capital of Albania , is the only one in the country. It is located west of the artificial lake on the edge of the Great Park in the south of Tirana .

The Botanical Garden of Tirana was laid out from 1964 to 1971 and has been maintained by the Bashkia Tirana since 2019 . It used to be run by the University of Tirana , which can still use it for research and teaching. The original area of ​​15 hectares has meanwhile been partially built over. In 2019 the botanical garden housed around 2000 plant species and subspecies. A complete list is missing, however.
