The Embassy of the United States of America in Kiev is the seat of the diplomatic mission of the United States of America (USA) in Ukraine . The United States recognized Ukraine's independence on December 26, 1991. The US Embassy in Kiev was opened on 23 January 1992 and initially by Jon Gundersen as chargé passed. The first official ambassador began work in May of that year .

American Ambassador to Ukraine
Kristina Kvien is currently responsible for the embassy as chargé d'affaires . Previously, this had been since June 2019, also as chargé d'affairs, William B. Taylor , after Ambassador Marie L. Yovanovitch was dismissed as ambassador in May 2019, two months before the regular end of her term of office.
