Boualem Belouard (* 13. October 1935 in Tadmait, Tizi Ouzou , Kabylia , Algeria ) is a former professional boxer in the featherweight , Kabyle descent.

Life

Boualem Belouard was born into a traditional Kabyle peasant family during the colonial rule of France in Algeria. He grew up in very humble circumstances. From an early age he had to look for work. In the mid-1940s he worked in the Le Camp-du-Maréchal military camp. In 1958, during the Algerian war against the colonial power France, he moved to Paris.

According to Boxing's Official Record Keeper , Boualem is said to have successfully fought his debut boxing match on December 14, 1958 in Lourches (North, France) against Albert Younsi. Up to 1962 he boxed exclusively in France, then more and more in Germany, where his promoters were based. In 1964 he moved to Germany. Today he lives in Hamburg .

In his 20-year career he achieved 27 wins, suffered 40 defeats and boxed 14 draws. One of his most important fights was against the eventual featherweight champion Howard Winstone . At the age of 41 he boxed for the German championship for the last time in 1977 in Kiel.
