Boubé Zoumé

Boubé Zoumé (born December 30, 1951 in Gaya , † January 15, 1997 in Niamey ) was a Nigerien writer.

Boubé Zoumé came from a family of fishermen on the Niger River who belonged to the Songhai - Zarma ethnic group. He studied business administration in the capital Niamey. Zoumé is considered one of the most important Nigerien poets. He wrote in French. His best-known work, the collection of poems Les souffles du cœur , appeared in 1977 . His book Talibo, l'enfant du quartier , published in 1996, tells the story of a boy in a Koran school against the background of social dissolution.
