Bounce is a Jump 'n' Run -Spielserie that of Nokia was released for its mobile phones. It has been preinstalled on many Nokia phones and, along with Snake and Tetris, is considered one of the most popular Nokia mobile games .

Gameplay

In the original Bounce game, the player controls a red jump ball through several levels in a 2D game world by using the phone buttons to make it roll forward, roll back or jump. The ball has to avoid obstacles and enemies, collect objects and go through all the tires of the level. The following objects belong to the game:

  • Spikes: The ball must not touch these, otherwise it bursts and the player loses 1 life and has to start the level again. The spikes are visually reminiscent of candles or street lamps.
  • Stars: Moving obstacles in the form of blue stars that move back and forth vertically or horizontally (rarely diagonally) in a certain area. These also cause the loss of a life when touched and it may have to be started over.
  • Tires: All tires must be traversed to clear the target. Each tire is worth 500 points. The tires come in two sizes; the smaller version can only be crossed by small balls.
  • Air aspirator: makes the ball smaller.
  • Air pump: Makes the ball bigger.
  • Water: Big balls float on water, small ones don't.
  • Rubber floor: Blue floor that increases the bounce when the ball bounces several times in a row.
  • Yellow diamonds: Earn 500 points. After collecting it, a green arrow appears. If the player loses a life, he continues the game from the last green arrow collected (instead of starting the level).
  • Blue diamonds: Earn 1 extra life and 1000 points.
  • There are also various items which, after touching, reverse the gravity for a few seconds or temporarily increase the jumping force or rolling speed of the ball.

The game had a total of 11 levels. An additional level package (level 12-21) was available for download for Nokia phones of the 60 and 80 series ( Symbian OS ). The game is inspired by classic platformer games like Super Mario Bros.

chronology

The Nokia 9210 Communicator (Series 80) from 2000 was the first device to introduce the game in 2001. With updated versions, it has also been preinstalled on entry-level 40 series devices such as the Nokia 6610 (2002) and Nokia 2600 (2004). The following apply as successors:

Many unofficial remakes of Bounce have been made and are available on the Google Play Store or App Store . In addition to numerous new levels, the original levels 1–11 from the Nokia version are usually included.

Level editor

An unofficial level editor called BouncEdit was created in 2003 and allows you to create your own bounce levels.
