Braccio da Montone , born Andrea Fortebracci (born July 1, 1368 in Perugia , † June 5, 1424 in L'Aquila ), was an Italian condottiere .

The additional name comes from the town of Montone , about 28 kilometers north-northwest of Perugia . At that time the place belonged to the Rione di Porta Sant'Angelo in Perugia. He was a rival of Muzio Attendolo Sforza ; both died within a few weeks in 1424, leaving their sons feuding . Braccio was lord of Perugia in 1416 and briefly controlled the city of Rome . He was killed during the siege of L'Aquila , which he last undertook on behalf of King Alfonso V. His son was Carlo da Montone (Carlo Fortebracci, 1421–1479).
