Brackett is a small impact crater near the southeastern edge of the Mare Serenitatis . It is a so-called ghost crater that was covered by a lava flow and only shows itself as a ring-shaped track within the surrounding mare . The easiest way to observe it is when the light falls at an angle, otherwise it is difficult to track down. Its southern edge almost touches the groove system of the Rimae Pliny . In the west, the ridge of the Dorsum Nicol runs north.
