Brad McGann

Brad McGann , MNZM (born February 22, 1964 in Auckland , † May 2, 2007 there ) was a New Zealand director .

Life

McGann studied at the University of Otago and the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne . After staging several productions for Australian television Brad McGann was 2004 's Den , known internationally (In My Father's Den). The film won the FIPRESCI Prize at the 2004 Toronto International Film Festival and the Mercedes Benz Youth Jury Prize at the 52nd Festival Internacional de Cine de San Sebastián in Spain that same year, plus nine New Zealand Screen Awards , including in the categories of Best Director and Best movie. In 2005 the film received the Jury Award at the Seattle International Film Festival . In Germany, when the sea disappeared , came to cinemas in late November 2006. Brad McGann, considered one of New Zealand's most talented young directors, died of colon cancer at the age of 43 .
