Brainbox
Brainbox was a briefly successful Dutch progressive rock band from the early 1970s, founded by guitarist Jan Akkerman and drummer Pierre van der Linden , two later members of the better-known prog band Focus and singer Kaz Lux .
Band history
The band's debut single , which came together in Amsterdam , was Down Man, which set their progressive blues . They had a number of successful releases such as Between Alpha and Omega , Doomsday Train and Dark Rose . Shortly after the first album was released, Akkerman and van der Linden left the group to join the band Focus . They were replaced by the guitarists Hermann Meyer († 2000) and Rudie de Quelijoe and the drummer Frans Smit († 2005). Meyer was later replaced by John Schuursma. After Kaz Lux left the group in 1971, popularity waned and they broke up in 1972.
In 2004, Brainbox was re-founded by Kaz Lux, but without Jan Akkerman.
