Brandenstein is a district of the town of Ranis in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .
geography
The Brandenstein district is on the road to Brandenstein Castle , which is located on a hill about 1 km north of Ranis. The road that passes in the valley connects to the federal road 281 towards Saalfeld and Gera .
history
According to Kahl, Brandenstein was first mentioned in a document on May 5, 1229. Other authors state 1297 and Bienert proves 1269 by reporting that around this time nobles named themselves after the castle , which was later converted into a castle and is now privately owned.
After the decisions of the victorious powers of the Second World War , new farmsteads were built with the land reform , and houses were added later to the developing district.
