The Braque Saint-Germain is a French breed of dog recognized by the FCI ( FCI Group 7, Section 1.1, Standard No. 115 ).
Origin and history
The breed was created around 1830 by crossing continental and English pointers . At the first dog show in France in 1863, the Braque Saint-Germain was the most strongly represented pointing dog breed; today the breed is endangered.
description
Up to 62 cm tall dog with short, not too fine hair in matt white with orange (fawn) markings. Stippling is tolerated according to the breed standard , but not aimed for. The eyes are large, open and golden-yellow. The rounded, hanging ears that start at eye level should not be too long. The tail is thick at the base and ends in a point. The main gait of the Braque Saint-Germain is the gallop.
Essence
The Braque Saint-Germain is trusting, balanced, loving and easy to train, she does not like harsh treatment.

The breed is primarily used to hunt pheasants, partridges and snipes, which are retrieved with a soft mouth . It is suitable as a family dog.
