The Braque d'Auvergne is an FCI recognized dog breed from France ( FCI Group 7, Section 1.1, Standard No. 180 ).

Origin and history

The Braque d´ Auvergne originated about 200 years ago in the eponymous landscape. It is one of the many hunting dog breeds that originated in France and is a typical pointing dog with spotted fur.

description

The dog , up to 63 cm tall, is black with white spotting of different sizes . The head is darkly set off with floppy ears that, when placed forward, reach approximately to the nose. The fur is short and spotted, but it can also be grayish. He is of strong stature, but still an elegant runner, not a sprinter, but born for the long distance. While it is not uncommon in France, it is little known outside of it.

Essence

A real all-rounder when hunting, it is used on small game. He shows qualities as a pointing dog, also when retrieving . With sufficient activity, he is a good family dog .
