Braud (agricultural machinery manufacturer)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Braud was a French manufacturer of agricultural machinery. The brand name is still used by grape harvesters of the CNH Global Group.

In 1898, the company's founder, Alexandre Braud, moved to Saint-Mars-la-Jaille in the Pays de la Loire region and worked there as an agricultural machinery mechanic. He started in 1908 with the production of threshing machines powered by steam engines. A metal threshing machine followed in 1929. In the following years, other agricultural machines such as balers were added to the range. In 1939 600 threshing machines were sold. After the Second World War , combine harvesters were developed specifically for the French market. In 1966 a new factory with a production area of 55,000 m² was built in Angers . Braud was one of the most successful French combine harvester manufacturers. In 1975 Braud was one of the first European companies to start producing grape harvesters and soon became the market leader. In 1984 the Italian Fiatagri group acquired 75% of the shares in Braud. Braud grape harvesters will continue to be marketed under the Braud name. After various takeovers and restructuring, the entire agricultural division of Fiat was renamed New Holland in 1992. Today the grape harvesters are marketed under the New Holland Braud label.
