The fruit harvesting is still quite young collective term for special harvesting which the harvest of fruit trees and fruit bushes specialize.

Structure and use

Fruit growing

A modern fruit harvester, for example, consists of a motorized chassis and a fork-shaped vibrating machine , which in turn consists of two strong padded tines or rods. With this vibrating machine mainly fruit trees or robust fruit bushes are held between the tines. Strong vibrations then set the entire plant into brief, jerky oscillations with which the ripe fruits can then be shaken off. A large funnel carried with the machine (about 4 to 8 meters in diameter, depending on the size of the plant), which can be extended and retracted in a circle around the plant, then collects the falling fruits and guides them directly via a conveyor belt that is also carried along . B. in the fruit boxes provided. Depending on the technical design, however, not all parts described here are included, for example with regard to the ability to move independently. These machines are u. a. very suitable for apple , cherry and walnut trees and similarly robust plants.

Viticulture

There are special harvesters for grapevines and similarly sensitive plants, such as the "grape harvester", which can carry out the grape harvest semi-automatically and in principle work in a similar way as described above. As a new development, the Rhineland-Palatinate viticulture ministry presented a steep-slope grape harvester in September 2007, which, thanks to the combination of the most modern techniques, is able to harvest vineyards with slopes of up to 60%.
