history

In 1893, the businessman Carl Betz, who came from the Black Forest, registered a business to operate a color beer brewery in Celle.

Before the beginning of World War I , Carl Betz brewed malt beer and produced mineral water. Water production was not resumed after the war ended. In 1930, Carl Betz took his sons Albert and Walter into the newly founded Carl Betz OHG brewery. After Carl Betz's death in 1936, his sons continued the company. On April 1, 1966, Dieter and Karl-Friedrich Betz joined the OHG. After exactly 40 years, the fourth generation took over the company. On April 1, 2006, the previous shareholders handed over the management of the brewery: Dieter Betz to his daughter Frauke Betz (graduate economist) and Karl-Friedrich Betz to his son Stephan Betz (graduate brewmaster).
