Gmunden beer was brewed in the Gmunden brewery from 1868 to 1969 .
history
The brewery was founded in Gmunden in 1868 and was a founding member of Braubank AG in 1921. This was a merger of the Hofbräu Kaltenhausen in Hallein, the Linzer Aktienbrauerei, the Poschacher Brewery in Linz and the Wieselburger Aktienbrauerei . In 1932 the Gmunden brewery was temporarily shut down due to the economic crisis in order to better utilize the capacity of the sister breweries Hofbräu Kaltenhausen and Poschacher brewery.
Until 1966 the seven breweries of the Brau AG produced their own beers under their own name. In 1967, however, the company's brand and variety policy was tightened. The Gmunden brewery was sold in full to the Brau Union in 1969 and shut down a little later.
